Getting Started With Your Website

Your Site Before Night website has already been professionally prepared with your business information and branding. You do not need to start from an empty template. From here, you can review your information, learn the basic website editor controls, and make ordinary updates as your business changes.

A good place to start:

Before changing the overall design, review the information your customers depend on most—your phone number, email, address or service area, hours, services, photos, and important calls to action.

Meet your website editor

When you are logged into your website, editing controls appear throughout the site and across the top of the screen. These tools allow you to work with pages and sections, preview your website, view statistics, and make appropriate changes to your content and design.

You do not need to learn every feature at once. Start with normal content updates and become familiar with the editor as you use your website.

The main areas of your website editor

Pages

Manage the pages on your website. The editor supports tasks such as adding, renaming, rearranging, duplicating, and showing or hiding pages in the navigation. Be careful when deleting a page because deleted pages cannot be restored.

Sections

Your pages are built from sections of content. You can edit existing sections and, where available, use Add New Section to add more content to a page.

Preview Site

Preview your website at different screen sizes to see how your updates look across different devices.

Stats

View basic website statistics to learn more about website visitors and search-engine performance.

Design

Design controls can affect the website more broadly, including its layout, header, brand colors, fonts, buttons, and background. Make sitewide changes deliberately.

Settings

Settings may include sitewide SEO and domain-related options. Technical or unfamiliar settings should be handled carefully.

Good first updates to make

  • Confirm your business name and contact information.
  • Review your hours, services, and service area.
  • Update ordinary text when business information changes.
  • Replace or add appropriate business photos.
  • Review important buttons and links.
  • Add or update normal page sections when needed.
  • Preview the website after making changes.
