How to Add or Change a Google Map

A Google Map can help visitors quickly understand where your business is located or the general area you serve. You can add a Map section to your Site Before Night website and customize the information displayed with it.

Good places for a map include: your Contact page, a location section, or an area near the bottom of a page where customers are looking for directions or location information.

How to add a Google Map section

  1. Open the page where you want the map to appear and scroll to the appropriate location.
  2. Select + Add New Section.
  3. Choose the Map option.
  4. Select Add to Site.

After the Map section has been added, you can customize its information so it matches your business.

Update the map information

Once the Map section is on your page, use its editing controls to update the information customers see. The Map section includes fields for the Title, Description, and Address.

Title

Use the title to identify the location or give visitors a clear reason to view the map.

Description

Add useful supporting information about your location or what customers should know before visiting.

Address

Enter or update the business address that should be associated with the map.

Change the map section layout and style

The content of the map is only part of the section. You can also use the Style tab to adjust its layout and design.

Choose a presentation that works well with the surrounding page content and keeps the location information easy for visitors to understand.

Tip: After changing the layout, review the entire section—not just the map—to make sure the heading, description, location information, and map still work well together.

Tips for using a map on your business website

  • Keep the address consistent with the location information you provide elsewhere on your website.
  • Place the map where visitors are likely to be looking for location or contact information.
  • If customers do not visit your physical location, make sure the surrounding copy accurately explains how and where you serve them.
  • After making changes, review the section on both desktop and mobile so the location information remains easy to understand.

Can I add a map to any page?

Yes. A Map section can be added wherever it makes sense on a website page.

Can I change the map address later?

Yes. The Map section includes an Address field that can be updated along with its Title and Description.

Can I change how the map section looks?

Yes. Use the Style tab to change the layout and design of the section.
