Why Am I Not Receiving Website Form Submissions?
If someone submits a contact form on your Site Before Night website but the notification never reaches your inbox, the problem is often either the email address receiving the notification or spam filtering.
Start with the checks below before assuming your website form is not working. A submission can sometimes be stored with your website even when its email notification does not reach your inbox.
Start here: confirm the notification email address, send a test submission, check Spam or Junk, and then review whether the website has classified the submission as spam.
How to Troubleshoot Missing Form Notifications
Confirm the recipient email address
Make sure the email address that should receive your website form notifications is correct. A small typo in the address can prevent the notification from reaching you.
If you are unsure which address your form is using or do not see an option to change it in your website editor, contact Site Before Night Technical Support rather than changing unfamiliar technical settings.
Send a test form submission
Open the form on your live website and send a simple test message. Use information that makes the test easy to recognize, such as “Website Form Test” in the message field.
Then check the inbox that should receive the notification.
Check your Spam or Junk folder
If the test does not appear in your inbox, check Spam, Junk, and any other filtered-mail folders. You can also search your mailbox for “Email Form Submission.”
When you find a legitimate website notification, mark it as safe or not junk. If your email provider supports a safe-sender list, add the website notification sender newmessage@my-site.email.
Email-provider menus vary, so use your provider's current instructions for adding a safe sender rather than relying on a specific menu path.
Check whether the submission was marked as spam
Website form submissions that appear suspicious may be classified as spam and may not generate an email notification.
When reviewing a submission, use Show to open its details. If a legitimate message was incorrectly classified, choose Not Spam. The notification can then be sent to the recipient email address.
Submissions that remain marked as spam are deleted after 30 days, so review questionable submissions before that period expires.
Important: not seeing an email does not always mean the customer inquiry disappeared. If email delivery is being filtered, review your website's form submissions as part of your troubleshooting.
Common Questions About Missing Form Submissions
Why are website form notifications going to my spam folder?
Your email provider may decide that an automated website notification looks like junk. Marking a legitimate notification as safe and adding the notification sender to your safe-sender list can help prevent future messages from being filtered.
Can the submission exist even if I did not receive an email?
Yes. A submission can be recorded while its email notification is filtered by your inbox or withheld because the submission was classified as spam.
What if my test submission still does not arrive?
Confirm the recipient address, check Spam or Junk, review your stored submissions, and then contact Site Before Night Technical Support if the problem continues.
